Oats Base

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats Use gluten-free oats for a gluten-free option.
  • 2 tablespoons Chia Seeds Optional for texture but enhances the dish.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder Provides rich chocolate flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup Can substitute with honey or agave nectar.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Adds warmth; pumpkin spice mix can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract Almond extract can be used instead.
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt Balances sweetness.
  • ¾ cup Milk of Choice Almond or oat milk work great.

Instructions
 

Making the Oats

  • In a jar, mix together rolled oats, chia seeds, unsweetened cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk 1 tablespoon of milk with cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Add the cocoa paste, remaining milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir or shake well.
  • Seal the jar and place it in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  • The next morning, stir the oats. If too thick, add a splash of milk.
  • Serve chilled or warmed, topping with optional whipped cream, chocolate chips, or fruit.

Notes

Store prepared oats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. Can freeze for up to 2 months.
