Ingredients
  

For the Bratwurst

  • 4 pieces Bratwurst Sausages Substitute with turkey or chicken bratwurst for a lighter option.
  • 12 oz Beer (lager or pilsner) Any beer you enjoy drinking works beautifully.

For the Aromatics

  • 1 medium Onion (sliced) Yellow or white onions work best.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Use fresh for the best results.

For Grilling

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Can swap with vegetable oil if needed.

For Serving

  • 4 pieces Buns Any soft bread rolls will do.

Cooking Instructions

  • In a medium pot, combine beer, sliced onions, and minced garlic. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Carefully place the bratwurst into the pot. Let them simmer for 15 minutes.
  • While the bratwurst simmers, preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375°F to 400°F).
  • Lightly coat the grill grates with olive oil using a paper towel.
  • Lift the bratwurst from the beer bath and let any excess liquid drip off.
  • Place the bratwurst on the preheated grill. Grill them for about 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • If you like a little crunch, toss the buns on the grill for a minute or two until lightly toasted.
  • Assemble the bratwurst in the buns and top them off with your favorite condiments and toppings.

Notes

Optional: Add a sprinkle of fresh herbs for an extra flavor pop! Store leftovers in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
