  • 4 pcs Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil can swap for favorite cooking oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder or swap with minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Paprika smoked paprika for extra richness

For the Sautéed Toppings

  • 8 oz Mushrooms sliced, can substitute with baby bellas or omit
  • 1 medium Onion sliced, yellow or sweet onions recommended
  • 2 tbsp Butter or margarine or another fat
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce optional, enhances flavor

For the Cheese Topping

  • 1 cup Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese can interchange with cheddar or mozzarella

For Garnish

  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley chopped, can substitute with chives or any herb

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's perfectly hot for baking the chicken.
  • Season the chicken breasts with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Make sure they're evenly coated for maximum flavor.
  • Sear the chicken in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown, then remove and set aside.
  • Sauté sliced onions and mushrooms in the same skillet with melted butter for 5-7 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce to the skillet and cook for an additional minute, stirring well to combine the flavors.
  • Return the seared chicken to the skillet, then top it generously with the sautéed vegetables.
  • Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese over the chicken for that delicious gooey topping we all love.
  • Bake the skillet in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the cheese is bubbly.
