Instructions

How to Make Savory Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onions and green peppers until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 more minute, then let cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan cheese, sautéed vegetables, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—be careful not to overmix!
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or freeform on a baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, mustard, and optional brown sugar until smooth.
  • Generously coat the top of the meatloaf with the prepared topping mixture.
  • Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes.
  • After 45 minutes, layer the provolone cheese over the top and return to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the internal temperature hits 160°F (71°C).
  • Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm, perhaps with a sprinkle of fresh parsley.

Notes

Drizzle with extra ketchup for a touch of sweetness.
