For the Beef Dish

  • 1 lb Ground Beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.

  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar Balances savory flavors with a hint of sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup Beef Broth Enriches the dish with beef flavor.
  • 1/3 cup Soy Sauce Provides essential umami; opt for low-sodium if preferred.
  • 3 tablespoons Hoisin Sauce Adds depth and sweetness to the sauce.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger Delivers warmth and spice.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper For seasoning.
  • a pinch Red Pepper Flakes Adds heat according to preference; optional.
  • 10 oz Linguine Cooked al dente; can swap with spaghetti or rice noodles.
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Serves as a thickening agent for the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Water Used to create a slurry with cornstarch.
  • 4 Green Onions Sliced; for garnish and brightness.

Instructions

How to Make Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

  • Begin by boiling a pot of salted water. Cook the linguine according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside while you prepare the beef.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook and stir until it's fully browned—about 5-7 minutes—then drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the minced garlic with the beef and sauté for about 1 minute.
  • Pour in the brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir well and let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Slowly pour this mixture into the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss everything together gently.
  • Heap the noodles onto plates, and garnish generously with freshly sliced green onions. Serve hot and savor every bite!

Notes

Optional: For a fresh touch, sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
