Ingredients
  

Turkey

  • 1 each Turkey (1 to 1.5 pounds per person)

Butter and Seasonings

  • 1 cup Softened butter For spreading
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme) Chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper

Citrus and Aromatics

  • 2 each Lemons Halved
  • 1 each Onion Quartered

Moisture

  • 2 cups Chicken broth For basting

Preparation Steps

  • Pat the turkey dry with paper towels and remove giblets. Season inside and out with salt and pepper.
  • Mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped herbs. Spread under the skin and over the turkey.
  • Stuff the turkey cavity with halved lemons, onion quarters, and herb sprigs.
  • Tie the legs with kitchen twine and tuck the wings under the turkey.
  • Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F and roast the turkey, basting every 30 minutes. Tent with foil after the first hour.
  • Check doneness with a meat thermometer (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
