  • 1 Egg For a vegan option, use flaxseed meal mixed with water.

For the Cheese Sauce

  • 4 Tbsp Butter Substitute with olive oil or margarine for dairy-free.

  • 1.5 cups Shredded Cheese Use meltable cheeses like mozzarella or gouda.
  • 1 tsp Paprika Adjust to suit your taste.

For the Macaroni

  • 2 cups Macaroni Cook al dente for the best texture.

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix until fully blended.
  • Press the mixture into a greased baking dish evenly. Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan, then stir in flour, cooking for 1 minute to form a roux.
  • Whisk in the milk gradually until thickened. Add seasoning and shredded cheese, stirring continuously until melted.
  • Mix the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce. Pour this blend over the meatloaf in the baking dish.
  • Top with additional cheese, then bake for an extra 25 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
