Instructions
 

Cooking Steps

  • Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the sliced smoked sausage to the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Reduce heat to medium, add the chopped onion, and sauté for 2–3 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Stir in uncooked rice and toast for 1–2 minutes.
  • Pour in chicken broth, Cajun seasoning, paprika, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a gentle boil.
  • Lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid absorbed.
  • Stir in heavy cream and cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Return sausage to skillet, heat through for 2–3 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For an added kick, serve with a side of hot sauce. Customize with your favorite vegetables or adjust spices to taste.
