Equipment

  • 9x9-inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Ingredients

For the Crust

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour substitute with gluten-free flour blend for a gluten-free option
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar can be replaced with coconut sugar for a lower glycemic option
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter should be softened for easy mixing; substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free version
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt use kosher salt for a finer texture

For the Filling

  • 1 cup Corn Syrup (light or dark) can be swapped with maple syrup for a different flavor profile
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (packed) dark brown sugar can be used for a more robust flavor
  • 1/2 cup Melted Unsalted Butter for richness in the filling
  • 3 Large Eggs provides structure and moisture
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract use pure vanilla extract for the best taste
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans the essential ingredient for flavor

Instructions

Making the Bars

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare a 9x9-inch baking pan by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
  • Mix together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, softened butter, and salt until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • Bake the crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
  • Stir in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the pecan filling over the pre-baked crust and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the filling is set around the edges.
  • Cool the bars in the pan on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Lift the parchment paper to remove the bars, then slice into your desired shape.
