  • 1 cup breadcrumbs plain or seasoned
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast for dairy-free
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley or 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 large egg or flax egg for vegan
  • 3 cloves garlic or garlic powder as substitute
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder or finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper or white pepper as alternative
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup sweet chili sauce homemade is a great option
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil optional
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional
  • 2 tablespoons water if using cornstarch

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes in a large bowl. Mix until just combined.
  • Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until browned and fully cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • Mix the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and optional sesame oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Thicken the glaze by combining cornstarch and water, then add this slurry to the warm sauce, cooking until desired thickness.
  • Transfer the baked meatballs to a large bowl and pour the warm glaze over them.
  • Serve the meatballs on a platter, garnished with extra parsley or sesame seeds.
  • Enjoy warm, using toothpicks for easy serving.
