  • 3 large eggs room temperature for even mixing
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted for filling moisture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract elevates flavor profile
  • 1/2 cup bourbon or substitute with vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips dark chocolate for intense taste
  • 1 cup pecan halves signature nut for pecan pie

Instructions
 

Making the Pie

  • Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.
  • Cut in the Butter: Add diced, chilled unsalted butter and mix until coarse crumbs.
  • Add Ice Water: Gradually pour in ice water, mixing until a dough forms. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to preheat at 350°F (175°C).
  • Roll Out the Dough: Roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan.
  • Prick the Crust: Use a fork to prick the bottom of the crust.
  • Whisk the Filling: In a bowl, whisk corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and bourbon.
  • Add Chocolate and Pecans: Stir in chocolate chips and pecan halves.
  • Fill the Crust: Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
  • Bake the Pie: Bake for 50-60 minutes until set and golden brown.
  • Cool the Pie: Cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before serving.
