For the Casserole

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef preferably 80/20 fat ratio
  • 1 large Onion diced
  • 2 large Bell Peppers diced; any color
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

For the Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz Provolone Cheese sliced
  • 1.5 cups Mozzarella Cheese shredded

For Sautéing

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 baking dish by spraying it with non-stick spray.
  • Sauté the diced onions and bell peppers in a large skillet with olive oil over medium heat for about 5-6 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Add minced garlic to the skillet and stir constantly for 30 seconds.
  • Cook the ground beef in the skillet by breaking it up and seasoning with salt and pepper until browned, about 7-8 minutes.
  • Mix in Worcestershire sauce, then reduce heat. Add softened cream cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.
  • Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Layer the sliced provolone cheese over the top, followed by shredded mozzarella.
  • Bake for 22-25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or fresh jalapeños for extra flavor. Allow casserole to sit for a few minutes before serving for the perfect slice.
