  • 2 pounds Fresh Mussels Clean them well before cooking.
  • 1 cup Dry White Wine A high-quality wine enhances the flavor.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 2 medium Shallots Chopped; or substitute with onions.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil For sautéing.
  • 2 cups Chicken or Vegetable Broth
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

For Garnish

  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped.
  • 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes Optional.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Optional.

How to Make White Wine Mussels Bowl

  • Rinse the fresh mussels under cold water, scrubbing to remove any debris. Discard any that remain closed after rinsing.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté minced garlic and chopped shallots for about 3 minutes, until they soften.
  • Pour in the dry white wine and let it bubble for around 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the broth along with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Gently add the cleaned mussels to the pot. Cover and steam for 5-7 minutes, checking until the mussels open.
  • Sprinkle fresh parsley over the stew. Ladle into bowls and serve with crusty bread.

Notes

Optional: Drizzle a little lemon juice on top before serving for added brightness.
