  • 1 pound Ground Beef use lean beef to reduce grease
  • 3 cups Cooked White Rice day-old rice absorbs flavors better
  • 1 can Condensed French Onion Soup
  • 1 cup Sour Cream optional to substitute with Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese can swap with Gruyère or provolone
  • 2 tablespoons Butter for browning the beef
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped Parsley optional garnish

How to Make French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated with the seasonings.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef with the cooked white rice, condensed French onion soup, and sour cream. Stir until everything is well incorporated and creamy.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  • Spread the beef and rice mixture evenly in the baking dish. Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, add crispy fried onions on top right after baking.
