  • Heat the Cocoa Mixture: In a saucepan, warm the milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Once warm, whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth, then set aside to cool to room temperature.
  • Cool the Coffee: In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Allow it to cool completely.
  • Whip the Cream: In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Fold in the Mascarpone: Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream until fully combined.
  • Assemble the Layers: Quickly dip half of the ladyfingers into the coffee mixture. Arrange them in a serving dish, then spread half of the mascarpone filling over them, followed by half of the cocoa mixture.
  • Repeat Layers: Repeat with remaining ladyfingers, adding the second half of the mascarpone filling and cocoa mixture on top.
  • Chill for Perfection: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
