Ingredients
  

For the Pasta

  • 12 oz Rigatoni Pasta Can substitute with penne or ziti.

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil Can be substituted with your favorite cooking oil.
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter Can use salted butter if unsalted is unavailable.
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream Half-and-half can be used for a lighter option.
  • 2 tbsp Flour Optional if using enough heavy cream.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic delivers robust flavor.
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated is ideal.

For the Filling

  • 1 lb Italian Sausage Sweet variety is recommended.
  • 1 medium Onion Use yellow or white for optimal flavor.
  • 1 cup Fresh Basil Dried basil can be substituted.
  • to taste Salt and Pepper Essential for flavor enhancement.

Instructions
 

Cooking Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Cook the rigatoni in salted water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and toss with olive oil.
  • Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add Italian sausage to the pan and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Mix in basil, salt, and pepper.
  • Prepare the sauce by mashing garlic, melting butter, stirring in heavy cream and the mashed garlic on low heat.
  • Whisk in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Combine flour with a splash of heavy cream, then stir into the sauce until fully incorporated.
  • Mix Alfredo sauce with sausage mixture and rigatoni, and transfer to a baking dish. Top with shaved Parmesan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned.
  • Serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

This dish can be prepared in advance and refrigerated before baking. Perfect for meal prep!
