  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Opt for pure vanilla extract.
  • 1 tablespoon Unflavored Gelatin Bloom in cold water beforehand.
  • 3 tablespoons Cold Water Use very cold water.

Nutmeg Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Chilled for better whipping.
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar Adjust according to preference.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg Use fresh for better flavor.

  • Bloom Gelatin: Combine cold water and unflavored gelatin in a small bowl; allow it to sit for 5 minutes.
  • Heat Base: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix together eggnog, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until warm.
  • Dissolve Gelatin: Remove from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  • Set Panna Cotta: Pour the mixture into serving glasses or molds, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
  • Prepare Whipped Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, ground nutmeg, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Release Panna Cotta: If using molds, run a knife around edges and dip bottoms in warm water, then invert onto plates.
  • Serve: Top with nutmeg whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground nutmeg.

Notes

For a delightful contrast, add a drizzle of caramel sauce when serving.
