Equipment

  • Pie pan or square baking dish
  • Medium saucepan
  • Large bowl

Ingredients

For the Brownie Base

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Substitute with margarine for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Honey can be a great natural alternative.
  • 2 large Eggs Swap for flax eggs for a vegan option.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Pure vanilla is prized for the best taste.
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa Powder Dutch-processed cocoa deepens flavor.
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour Consider whole wheat flour for a healthier twist.
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Sea salt lends a gourmet touch.
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder Ensure freshness for optimal results.

For the Pecan Pie Filling

  • 1 cup Light Corn Syrup Brown rice syrup is a less sweet substitute.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Coconut sugar can provide a healthier alternative.
  • 3 large Eggs Vegan substitutes work well here, too.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups Chopped Pecans Walnuts are a tasty alternative.
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Essential for a well-rounded flavor profile.

Instructions

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch pie pan or square baking dish by greasing it lightly to prevent sticking.
  • Melt the butter over low heat in a medium saucepan. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined and smooth.
  • Sift the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder into the mixture, then gently mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay!
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly to ensure uniform baking.
  • Whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, chopped pecans, and salt in a large bowl until everything is well mixed and smooth, creating the pecan pie filling.
  • Layer the pecan filling over the brownie batter, evenly spreading it out so that every bite gets a delicious combination of flavors.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes. The filling should be set, and a toothpick inserted into the brownie should come out with moist crumbs.
  • Cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting. This helps the layers to set beautifully.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature, and consider adding a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special touch!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
