  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil can be substituted with any preferred cooking oil
  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef or ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced) use fresh for best taste
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion (finely diced) or shallots/green onions
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika adjust with regular paprika for different taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground preferred
  • 2 cups Yukon Gold or Russet Potatoes (chopped into ½ inch cubes) swap with sweet potatoes for a healthier option
  • 1/4 cup Water using broth enhances flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard Dijon can be used for bolder taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce as substitute
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup tomato sauce can be a replacement
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese (grated) or dairy-free cheese for lactose-free option

How to Make Instant Pot Ground Beef and Potatoes Skillet

  • Preheat the Instant Pot by selecting the sauté function. Allow it to heat for a couple of minutes before adding the olive oil.
  • Sauté the lean ground beef with diced onion, minced garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika for 5-8 minutes until the beef is browned.
  • Add the chopped potatoes to the pot. Stir everything together for about 1 minute.
  • Pour in ¼ cup of water, then secure the lid on the Instant Pot. Set to cook on high pressure for 8 minutes.
  • Release the pressure once done. Stir in yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Adjust consistency with more water if needed.
  • Mix in half of the grated sharp cheddar cheese, then add the rest on top, sealing briefly until melted.

Notes

For best results, cut potatoes into uniform cubes and feel free to customize ingredients based on preference.
